Premium Swedish audio brand Transparent has launched a see-through vinyl record player. The brand, best known for its high-end custom install solutions, and glass speaker designs, has produced a turntable with a similar lofty aesthetic. “This is a direct response to a demand from our community of music lovers,” declares Per Brickstad, Creative Director at Transparent.
Hailed as a ‘transformative moment’ in the Transparent journey, as it bridges the gap between analogue music and modern audio technology, the new Transparent Turntable is as much a design statement as a musical source.
Much like its stablemate speakers, it adopts a modular architecture. All parts can be taken apart by screws, both for easy repair as well as potential upgrades. The player is available in white or black finishes.
Visually, the Transparent Turntable certainly has wow factor. The deck is crafted in solid aluminium, with all details custom made. We particularly like that the traditional plastic lid has been replaced by a tempered glass dust cover, with dampened hinges that allows it to ‘float’ in mid air when released. It comes with an Ortofon OM 5e MM cartridge.
The Transparent Turntable sells for £1,100 (US$1300). It’s available in MoMA, Bloomingdales, MR Porter and from www.transpa.rent.
