The sound system charged with delighting fans every leg of the way came from L-Acoustics. The sound system was designed and supplied by Adlib, one of Europe's leading event technology partners. They chose the L-Acoustics K Series, which included the K1 and the K2, known as the "lightweight heavyweight" of the Pro Audio industry. Since 1984, Adlib has supported the live events industry, theatres, education, performance spaces, and venues to entertain audiences all over the world. Over four decades it has established itself as a single-source supplier respected throughout the Pro AV industry, with the in-house expertise to deliver audio, lighting, video and mechanical engineering. James Coghlan, Adlib's Systems Engineer, worked closely with George Ezra's FOH Engineer, Mike Timm, on the system's design from the beginning of the tour until the end. They played a crucial role in ensuring that the system delivered a flawless audio experience for Ezra's fans. “I’ve been a big fan of L-Acoustics since first mixing on ARCS in the late 1990s. Their systems translate what I want my mixes to sound like better than any other system on the market,” saysTimm. <img width="660" height="440" src="/media/15429370/george-ezra-arena-tour_660x440.jpg" alt="George Ezra Arena Tour"/> According to Coghlan, L-Acoustics has always been the go-to touring solution for the artist, and Mike Timm specified L-Acoustics for the current tour because of his previous experiences with their sound systems. The tour primarily played in arena-style venues, which influenced their design choices. Using Soundvision, L-Acoustics 3D modelling software, they positioned the arrays at the beginning of the UK run. They used a combination of K1 and K2 for the main and side arrays, and A and X Series enclosures for front-fill to draw the image of Ezra's vocal down from the main arrays for the first rows closest to the barrier line. The setup included main arrays of 12 K1 over six K2 down, with eight K1-SB flown behind them. For side hangs, 12 K2 were deployed both left and right, along with 12 KS28 positioned on the floor in a broadside configuration. The fill system comprised four centrally placed A10 three ARCS II per side as in-fills, two X15 for out-fill, and four lip-fill X8 evenly spaced across the front of the stage, powered by 46 LA12X amplified controllers. <img width="660" height="440" src="/media/15429371/l-acoustics-array_660x440.jpg" alt="L Acoustics Array"/> Four L-Acoustics P1 processors on the front-end, utilising an AVB based returns system, provide better sound quality and greater flexibility of routing, and the system is easy to set up and proven to be rock solid. Custom cable bridges with a centre hinge were used to allow navigation of the PA cabling around the various lighting and design elements on the stage, and the team collaborated closely with production and designers to ensure the bridges were the perfect fit for each venue. George Ezra's unique sound and style were perfectly complemented by the audio experience, ensuring fans were treated to unforgettable shows and consistent audio, regardless of where they were in the venue. The tour received received rave reviews, with some audience members approaching FOH to say it's the best live show they have ever heard. As part of the Live at The Piece Hall summer series featuring headliners like The Lumineers, Limp Bizkit, UB40 ft. Ali Campbell, The Charlatans, and Johnny Marr, the challenge was clear: to fill the open-air courtyard of this historic venue with outstanding sound quality, all while respecting the surrounding town's tranquillity. The chosen solution? L-Acoustics' K Series. The Piece Hall is Yorkshire's most significant secular building, a Georgian cloth hall constructed in 1779. Its architecture has borne witness to centuries of history, blending commerce and culture seamlessly. Today, it stands as a symbol of the region's rich heritage and continues to inspire awe with its captivating site-specific performances and modern music concerts. The grandeur of The Piece Hall presented unique acoustic challenges. The stage, nestled in the corner of the courtyard, meant that sound needed to be delivered with precision to a packed audience, all while minimising unwanted spill behind the stage. Moreover, the venue is located in a town centre, calling for a noise containment strategy to maintain neighbourly peace. This is where Hull-based L-Acoustics Certified Partner, HPSS Ltd, entered the picture. With a longstanding relationship with The Piece Hall dating back to 2017, HPSS had a track record of delivering top-tier sound experiences. The challenge this year was to design a sound system that met the venue's specific needs while offering uncompromising sound quality. L-Acoustics' K Series was the chosen solution. Why? Because it not only elevates sound quality but also ensures comprehensive coverage of the entire audience area while containing noise spill to the surroundings. Hugh Jones, Managing Director and Sound Engineer at HPSS, notes, "L-Acoustics instils confidence, both for its superior sound quality, and also for its user-friendliness." To achieve this, HPSS Project Manager and Sound Engineer Iain Firth turned to Soundvision, L-Acoustics' 3D audio modelling software. The goal was clear: deliver premium audio quality and maintain neighbourly peace. The configuration involved a left/right array of 12 L-Acoustics K2 speakers per side, complemented by 18 units of KS28 subwoofers to provide an expansive low-frequency experience. Centre-flown L-Acoustics Kara II speakers handled front fills, while additional Kara II units provided out-fill. For the artists on stage, 12 X15 HiQ speakers, along with two KS21 compact subwoofers, served as the monitor system. Side-fill came courtesy of four ARCS speakers on top of two SB28 units per side. Powering this sonic marvel were 19 LA12X and four LA4X amplified controllers. With a tight schedule, including sound checks starting at 4pm and the show kicking off two hours later, having a reliable sound system was paramount. Not only did it need to deliver exceptional sound, but it also needed to instil confidence in visiting sound engineers and comfortably accommodate artists' own engineers. Martin Clarke, Production Manager at The Piece Hall, proudly reflects on the summer gigs: "The feedback from engineers, artists, audiences, and our neighbours has been excellent. This is testament to an excellent product and first-class design." The Grade II listed building features a unique 140-foot domed ceiling, Art Deco interior, posed specific challenges when it came to installation. After extensive consultations with touring sound engineers and meticulous room modelling, Academy Music Group partnered with Adlib to install a sophisticated L-Acoustics K1 concert sound system. This innovative design not only ensures world-class audio for O2 Academy Brixton’s diverse schedule, but radically streamlines tour setups. "L-Acoustics was the ideal choice for its rider-friendly reputation, superior sound quality, and reliability," says Rob Crossland, Installation Project Manager at Adlib. "L-Acoustics Soundvision modelling software was instrumental, allowing us to create an optimal design that overcomes the room's unique challenges." “The major question in the system design was to keep acoustic energy off the deep, flat front of the raked balcony. We overcame this by creating an array with L-Acoustics K1-SB halfway down, allowing us to maintain pattern control of the LF while avoiding mid/high frequency reflections on stage, resulting in a very clean sound,” adds Crossland. The L-Acoustics setup includes dual hangs of four K1-SB, eight K1 and three K2 per side. 16 KS28 subwoofers are ground-stacked on the stage eight per side in four stacks of four. Four A10 Focus are placed across the stage lip to provide front-fill. An additional two A15 Focus per side increase imaging for those stood towards the front. Under balcony fill is catered to by two X8 coaxial loudspeakers and ten A10i Wide. LA12X and LA4X amplified controllers, driven by P1 processors, provide ample power and seamless system management. The project marks the start of a close collaboration with the well-known Dutch shipyard, which specialises in full-custom, smart custom, and a series of superyachts in the 50 to 80-metre sector. Every Videoworks system is as different as the yachts on which they are installed, and Sparta’s equipment bears the strong stamp of the boat’s builder. This is particularly the case with the graphical user interface, which had to complement the exceptional Winch interior of the yacht. Fully designed for elegant and harmonious family living, the interior’s strong use of colour and natural themes found a reflection in the MyInfo app which controls the AV system. “MyInfo is Videoworks’ app for iPad, now in its third generation, and it gives full control over audio and visual content across Sparta,” explains Stefan Nieuwenhuys, General Manager of Videoworks Europe BV. “This project demanded a highly customised graphical user interface, featuring some very specific icons and functions to match the way the build owner wanted to use the systems. We have a complete IT team in-house who did all the programming and design work to deliver that vision.” The equipment itself is high-end for a yacht of this size, and a first for Heesen. A big, centralised AV rack on the tank deck contains media servers and storage that can deliver audio and video content from to any of the outlets across the boat – from cabins to social areas inside and out. Speakers and subwoofers in each zone provide fantastic quality surround sound, and the pick of the many screens measures a generous 75 inches, flush fitted in the main saloon. <h2>'Centralised AV rack on the tank deck contains media servers and storage that can deliver audio and video content from to any of the outlets across the boat...'</h2> “We built the system in a way that we can distribute audio and video centrally from a single point, using our own proprietary standards,” continues Nieuwenhuys. “This makes the set-up future-proof, because it allows us to swap over to high-speed internet streaming services without replacing equipment all over the yacht. The upgrade is all prepared, even down to the cable connecting to the Starlink antenna.” Sparta has been a long time in the design and build, so the initial contact between Videoworks and Heesen goes back to 2021. The Heesen team have been so impressed with equipment on offer and the ease of working with Videoworks that the relationship has blossomed. There are a further two Heesen yachts in build with Videoworks systems on board, and another three at the proposal stage. “From light and temperature to presence sensors and energy meters, our smart automation systems go far beyond entertainment,” says Nieuwenhuys. “We are delighted to welcome Heesen as a valued new customer, and are looking forward to deepening our partnership in the future. The sound system charged with delighting fans every leg of the way came from L-Acoustics. The sound system was designed and supplied by Adlib, one of Europe's leading event technology partners. They chose the L-Acoustics K Series, which included the K1 and the K2, known as the "lightweight heavyweight" of the Pro Audio industry. Since 1984, Adlib has supported the live events industry, theatres, education, performance spaces, and venues to entertain audiences all over the world. Over four decades it has established itself as a single-source supplier respected throughout the Pro AV industry, with the in-house expertise to deliver audio, lighting, video and mechanical engineering. James Coghlan, Adlib's Systems Engineer, worked closely with George Ezra's FOH Engineer, Mike Timm, on the system's design from the beginning of the tour until the end. They played a crucial role in ensuring that the system delivered a flawless audio experience for Ezra's fans. “I’ve been a big fan of L-Acoustics since first mixing on ARCS in the late 1990s. Their systems translate what I want my mixes to sound like better than any other system on the market,” saysTimm. <img width="660" height="440" src="/media/15429370/george-ezra-arena-tour_660x440.jpg" alt="George Ezra Arena Tour"/> According to Coghlan, L-Acoustics has always been the go-to touring solution for the artist, and Mike Timm specified L-Acoustics for the current tour because of his previous experiences with their sound systems. The tour primarily played in arena-style venues, which influenced their design choices. Using Soundvision, L-Acoustics 3D modelling software, they positioned the arrays at the beginning of the UK run. They used a combination of K1 and K2 for the main and side arrays, and A and X Series enclosures for front-fill to draw the image of Ezra's vocal down from the main arrays for the first rows closest to the barrier line. The setup included main arrays of 12 K1 over six K2 down, with eight K1-SB flown behind them. For side hangs, 12 K2 were deployed both left and right, along with 12 KS28 positioned on the floor in a broadside configuration. The fill system comprised four centrally placed A10 three ARCS II per side as in-fills, two X15 for out-fill, and four lip-fill X8 evenly spaced across the front of the stage, powered by 46 LA12X amplified controllers. <img width="660" height="440" src="/media/15429371/l-acoustics-array_660x440.jpg" alt="L Acoustics Array"/> Four L-Acoustics P1 processors on the front-end, utilising an AVB based returns system, provide better sound quality and greater flexibility of routing, and the system is easy to set up and proven to be rock solid. Custom cable bridges with a centre hinge were used to allow navigation of the PA cabling around the various lighting and design elements on the stage, and the team collaborated closely with production and designers to ensure the bridges were the perfect fit for each venue. George Ezra's unique sound and style were perfectly complemented by the audio experience, ensuring fans were treated to unforgettable shows and consistent audio, regardless of where they were in the venue. The tour received received rave reviews, with some audience members approaching FOH to say it's the best live show they have ever heard. As part of the Live at The Piece Hall summer series featuring headliners like The Lumineers, Limp Bizkit, UB40 ft. Ali Campbell, The Charlatans, and Johnny Marr, the challenge was clear: to fill the open-air courtyard of this historic venue with outstanding sound quality, all while respecting the surrounding town's tranquillity. The chosen solution? L-Acoustics' K Series. The Piece Hall is Yorkshire's most significant secular building, a Georgian cloth hall constructed in 1779. Its architecture has borne witness to centuries of history, blending commerce and culture seamlessly. Today, it stands as a symbol of the region's rich heritage and continues to inspire awe with its captivating site-specific performances and modern music concerts. The grandeur of The Piece Hall presented unique acoustic challenges. The stage, nestled in the corner of the courtyard, meant that sound needed to be delivered with precision to a packed audience, all while minimising unwanted spill behind the stage. Moreover, the venue is located in a town centre, calling for a noise containment strategy to maintain neighbourly peace. This is where Hull-based L-Acoustics Certified Partner, HPSS Ltd, entered the picture. With a longstanding relationship with The Piece Hall dating back to 2017, HPSS had a track record of delivering top-tier sound experiences. The challenge this year was to design a sound system that met the venue's specific needs while offering uncompromising sound quality. L-Acoustics' K Series was the chosen solution. Why? Because it not only elevates sound quality but also ensures comprehensive coverage of the entire audience area while containing noise spill to the surroundings. Hugh Jones, Managing Director and Sound Engineer at HPSS, notes, "L-Acoustics instils confidence, both for its superior sound quality, and also for its user-friendliness." To achieve this, HPSS Project Manager and Sound Engineer Iain Firth turned to Soundvision, L-Acoustics' 3D audio modelling software. The goal was clear: deliver premium audio quality and maintain neighbourly peace. The configuration involved a left/right array of 12 L-Acoustics K2 speakers per side, complemented by 18 units of KS28 subwoofers to provide an expansive low-frequency experience. Centre-flown L-Acoustics Kara II speakers handled front fills, while additional Kara II units provided out-fill. For the artists on stage, 12 X15 HiQ speakers, along with two KS21 compact subwoofers, served as the monitor system. Side-fill came courtesy of four ARCS speakers on top of two SB28 units per side. Powering this sonic marvel were 19 LA12X and four LA4X amplified controllers. With a tight schedule, including sound checks starting at 4pm and the show kicking off two hours later, having a reliable sound system was paramount. Not only did it need to deliver exceptional sound, but it also needed to instil confidence in visiting sound engineers and comfortably accommodate artists' own engineers. Martin Clarke, Production Manager at The Piece Hall, proudly reflects on the summer gigs: "The feedback from engineers, artists, audiences, and our neighbours has been excellent. This is testament to an excellent product and first-class design." The Grade II listed building features a unique 140-foot domed ceiling, Art Deco interior, posed specific challenges when it came to installation. After extensive consultations with touring sound engineers and meticulous room modelling, Academy Music Group partnered with Adlib to install a sophisticated L-Acoustics K1 concert sound system. This innovative design not only ensures world-class audio for O2 Academy Brixton’s diverse schedule, but radically streamlines tour setups. "L-Acoustics was the ideal choice for its rider-friendly reputation, superior sound quality, and reliability," says Rob Crossland, Installation Project Manager at Adlib. "L-Acoustics Soundvision modelling software was instrumental, allowing us to create an optimal design that overcomes the room's unique challenges." “The major question in the system design was to keep acoustic energy off the deep, flat front of the raked balcony. We overcame this by creating an array with L-Acoustics K1-SB halfway down, allowing us to maintain pattern control of the LF while avoiding mid/high frequency reflections on stage, resulting in a very clean sound,” adds Crossland. The L-Acoustics setup includes dual hangs of four K1-SB, eight K1 and three K2 per side. 16 KS28 subwoofers are ground-stacked on the stage eight per side in four stacks of four. Four A10 Focus are placed across the stage lip to provide front-fill. An additional two A15 Focus per side increase imaging for those stood towards the front. Under balcony fill is catered to by two X8 coaxial loudspeakers and ten A10i Wide. LA12X and LA4X amplified controllers, driven by P1 processors, provide ample power and seamless system management.
