Ultimate Screens, a new UK-based projection screen supplier, has launched a range of 4K-ready, acoustically-transparent screens, which it says are designed for easy installation. The company says it will bring a fresh vision to projection screen supply, by offering integrators “easy-to-install fixed-frame screens with competitive and upfront pricing devoid of hidden costs.” Distribution is through Karma-AV.
On offer are fixed-frame ST screens in both 16:9 widecreen and 2.35:1 'Scope aspect ratios. It can also supply bespoke screens “on short lead times.” Ease of installation is a key selling point. While many brands require screen fabric to be attached to frame and tensioned face down on the ground, risking damage to the velvet frame and screen material, Ultimate Screens allows fabric to be attached after the frame is attached on the wall.
The frame itself is first assembled and hung on the wall using mounting brackets. Then black fabric backing is inserted into a retaining channel using the supplied fabric tool. The acoustically transparent screen fabric then goes into a fabric retaining track. Finally front velvet screen borders are attached. This material surround absorbes light and offers a high level of contrast. The company also offers integrators a subsidised replacement screen and velvet surface program, for damaged frames or screens.
