Savant SmartView Video Tiling for iPad upgraded

Savant has extended its SmartView Video Tiling technology to deliver up to nine windows of content from as many as 24 sources on a single TV display, all controlled from an iPad tablet. The system, which allows users to select and control multiple sources from the Savant interface, is described as "a must have for those looking to have the latest and greatest in consumer home entertainment technology" by distributor RGB Commuinications, Content can range from security camera feeds, to 1080p Blu-ray, set top boxes and media server entertainment. Savant SmartView also removes the need for a wall of screens in a business environment, providing a more efficient use of working space.  

Savant's TrueControl iPad app supports all the familiar Apple gestures, with the ability to drag and drop selected sources to any location within the SmartView tile grid, or pinch and zoom to have any source take over the entire display. It's also possible to create custom tiling layouts with channel presets.

RGB Chairman Gordon Innocent says: "Savant has once again used the intuitive features of Apple devices to take display solutions for both the commercial and residential marketplace to a new level, at the same time as providing the best possible user experience." Innocent notes that this SmartView extension offers integrators with new "sell-up opportunities as well as giving them an exciting new solution with which to win new business.

Home users can also use their iPad to check the news, channel hop, monitor a movie and view intercom feeds and more, without disturbing what the rest of the family is watching. The system's commercial appeal is equally powerful: "SmartView makes it easy to present all the things you ever wanted to in a meeting all at the same time and all on the same display," says Innocent. "Your Powerpoint presentation can be in one window, the video content to be viewed in another, the demo you want to show in another... It brings together collaboration and communication with a single touch of your iPad."
