RGB begins Savant Level 1 Core training, smart home system isn't just for apple anymore

This week RGB Communications debuted a three-day course Savant install training for dealers and programmers. The technology has long proved popular with iOS users, however it’s not exclusively for Apple users anymore, says the distributor. “The Savant system is aimed at the luxury automation control systems market,” Rob Thompson, RGB’s senior technical support and Savant trainer (pictured below), told Inside CI.  “The user interface is very nice and easy to use for the client and the dealer. What’s more, we can integrate it with both, Apple and Android products.”

Dealers wanting to provide Savant  systems first have to buy a simple host and controller system. Then those wanting to take Level 1 training must complete four online courses and score 80 per cent or higher on each test to qualify. Finally, they will need to complete the three days, hands-on Level 1 training, offered by RGB.

“Any one needing a refresher is also welcome to do the level 1 course again,” clarifies Thompson. The course costs just £25 for the three days.

During the Level 1 course, participants will test their understanding of the theory with the lab exercises. Thompson explains: “On day one, dealers and programmers are introduced to configuring one room. On the subsequent days more rooms and complexity is added using AV matrix systems, third party lighting and heating products, etc. RGB has dedicated training racks for these trainings.”

RGB’s training room can accommodate up to 12 delegates, a convenient number so that specific requirements are met, and all questions get answered. “For dealers that want to go deeper, and resolve heavy duty customisation interfaces and integrations with complex third party systems, we also have the Savant Systems Level 2 training. This is not compulsory, but it’s a very good course for tailored installs.”
