Pioneer's innovative multi-room SC-2023-K AV receiver is now available through AWE Europe. A 7.2 design, the highly-specified new model features dual independent HDMI outputs which unusually allow for two different HD sources to be viewed simultaneously. This simplifies multi-room deployment, with perhaps the main viewing area being fed from a Blu-ray player, while a second zone watches HD TV.

The AVR itself is rated at 190W output per channel (into 6 ohms). Again well suited for custom install duties, the SC-2023 utilises cool-running Class D amplification; Pioneer's Direct Energy HD amp draws around 44 per cent less current than analogue amplifiers.

Connectivity includes eight HDMI sockets, one of which is front-facing and MHL compliant for mobile devices. There's also an iPad/iPhone/iPod USB connection. Build niceties include an insulated low-resonance Dual Chassis with Trans-Stabiliser. Setup is simplified by the brand's 9-band MCACC (Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration) system and supplied microphone.

The SC-2023-K can upscale all sources to 3840 x 2160 and offers 4K HDMI pass-through when native devices come along. File playback facilities are advanced, with the SC-2023 supporting high-resolution Direct Streaming Digital (DSD) through its front USB port, along with MP3, WAV, AAC, WMA, FLAC and AIFF across a network from a NAS.

The AVR is also DLNA compliant, has integrated Apple AirPlay. Wi-fi isn't integrated, but there is dongle available if required. The model also sports Air Jam, which allows multiple Bluetooth users to connect simulatenously to share playlists, although an optional AS-BT200 Bluetooth adaptor is required. Naturally, the receiver also works with Pioneer's free iControlAV2013 app for Android and iOS devices.

"With the addition of the Pioneer SC-2023 to AWE's portfolio, we are increasing our brilliant selection of AVRs that we're able to offer the CI market," enthuses sales director Paul Mott. "Dual independent HDMI output will be a big plus for the installer, allowing increased versatility in installations where space or budget is limited, but maximum functionality and performance is still required."

CI channel distribution is exclusively through AWE Europe. For more on AWE's product portfolio and services, visit our partner page here.
