Panasonic's premium WT50 and DT50 large-screen LED TVs are "game-changers", according to AWE Europe's product manager James Drummie. Available in 42-, 47- and 55-inch screen sizes, he says the new televisions offer a level of image quality and functionality ideally suited to the high-end custom install market. By offering bigger screens than has previously been the case, coupled with significant improvements in aesthetics and Smart Viera TV functionality, Panasonic has produced TVs certain to "prove very popular with the custom install market." AWE Europe is providing distribution for the sets into the CI channel.
All the new WT and DT50 screens are internet-enabled, able to stream IPTV services such as Netflix, Acetrax, BBC iPlayer and YouTube. They're also extremely power efficient and can be driven with Panasonic's slick new Remote App Pro.
According to Drummie, the high-end WT50 (pictured above) has particular appeal, thanks to the inclusion of a dual-core processor. "This allows families to use Skype or Facebook while watching TV at the same time. For example, users can take a Skype video call on screen without leaving the channel they're viewing, which simply minimises instead." He also praised the second Touch Pad remote, designed to make it easier access Smart TV functions; a cursor can be moved around the screen using the pad on the remote.
AWE says integrators should also consider the benefits of the IPS Alpha panel, which offers improved off-axis viewing, and the single sheet-of-glass design with slim black bezel: "It fits neatly in any CI project."
Buy a WT50 Series screen during September and dealers could also win an Apple iPad. AWE says its customers will be entered into a prize draw, with the winner being announced at the beginning of October.
