Wharfedale Pro has expanded its family of passive, point-source PA loudspeakers with the Reason-X series, comprising two premium 3-way full speakers plus matching subs.
Designed for high quality installations and touring, the new 3-way models incorporate new concepts and components said to offer a level of performance impossible from a standard 2-way system.
The Reason X12 and Reason X-15 incorporate a new Z38 HF compression driver, distinguished by huge cooling fins which disperse generated heat, and a unique 3.81cm ring-shaped polyethylene flat diaphragm, said to bring a feeling of space and air to high frequencies.
The Reason-X series is suitable for vertical or horizontal applications, thanks to a rotatable 100° x 70° waveguide.
Handling mid-range duties is a custom Wharfedale Pro 8-inch driver with an aluminium basket and ferrite magnet. The LF driver boasts a 76mm voice coil and large φ190mm ferrite magnet.
The Reason X12 and X15 boast a max SPL of 131dB and 133dB respectively.
The series is completed by two appropriately beefy subwoofers. The Reason-X18B offers a single 18-inch driver with 1,000w power plant (4,000W peak) for a max SPL of 139dB, while the Reason-X218B boasts dual 18-inch drivers, with 2,000 watt amplification and a max SPL of 148dB.
All Reason-X models are constructed of premium baltic birch and use thick steel front grilles for enhanced durability.
