The UK’s professional smart home market has reached a record £3.1 billion, according to new research from CEDIA. The 2025 Professional Smart Home Market Analysis highlights a robust and growing sector, buoyed by demand for high-end solutions, expanding service offerings, and a marked increase in project scale.

Compiled in partnership with Ancrage Consulting LLC, the report offers the most detailed snapshot yet of the UK smart home industry. It combines survey responses from more than 600 residential integrators with verified sales data from major manufacturers and distributors, alongside insights from quoting platforms WeQuote and Specifi. The result is a data-rich analysis that charts the current shape of the market and projects future growth trajectories.

According to the report, the total value of the UK smart home market is up 7 per cent from 2023, driven in part by a surge in luxury and uber-luxury projects. Around 30 per cent of integrators now focus primarily on the highest-end clientele. There are approximately 3,700 integration firms operating in the UK, with the median revenue per company rising to £310,000.

Project sizes are on the rise too, with the median job now valued at £20,500. The average firm completes 13 projects annually and has a staff of five, indicating a steady maturation of business operations across the sector. Notably, nearly 80% of integrators now offer service agreements, a sharp rise from 66% just two years ago, signalling a shift toward recurring revenue models and long-term client relationships.

The report also spotlights key product trends. Home cinema, lighting and shading systems, and networking technologies are the top-performing categories, while interest in outdoor AV and security systems appears to have cooled. Still, optimism remains high, with 50% of surveyed firms planning to hire technical staff in the coming year, an indicator of sustained growth confidence.

“This year’s analysis is grounded in real sales data and strengthened by contributions from across the smart home industry,” said Matt Nimmons, CEDIA’s EMEA Managing Director. “It’s encouraging to see continued market growth from the results. This report is central to how CEDIA delivers on its mission, providing reliable, actionable insights that help our members thrive.”

The full 2025 Professional Smart Home Market Analysis is available free to CEDIA members via the CEDIA Product Catalogue. Non-members can purchase the report for £999.
