British digital audio pioneer dCS has launched Lina, a modular high-end component system for headphone users. The dCS Lina system comprises three components, the Lina Network DAC, Lina Master Clock and Lina headphone amplifier.
The design is ultra compact, and looks upmarket. Noise reducing billet aluminium casing is used for enhanced performance.
The Network DAC combines dCS’s Ring DAC and digital processing platform with other proprietary technologies, including dCS Expanse headphone processing. It supports hi-res streaming via Roon, TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify, Deezer, and AirPlay.
Control is via the integral touch screen, a first for dCS, or the dCS Mosaic app.
The headphone amp is a Class AB design. Connectivity includes three headphone outputs; one dual 3-pin balanced XLR, right and left channel; one single 4-pin balanced XLR and a 6.35mm headphone jack.
The Lina DAC and headphone amplifier function as a complete system, but the Lina Master Clock can be partnered with the DAC to further optimise audio performance. The system itself can couple other Hi-Fi components, for loudspeaker playback.
The dCS Lina Network DAC retails for £11,750, the dCS Lina headphone amplifier £8,400, and dCS Lina Master Clock, £6,750. Distribution is via Absolute Sounds.
