Toshiba has expanded its Fire TV offerings with a QLED model, the QF5D, available in 43-, 50-, 55- and 65-inch screen sizes.

Based around the Amazon smart platform, the sets boast Alexa built-in, able to offer smart home control, as well as a huge variety of streaming services, including Prime Video, Netflix, NOW, Disney+,and YouTube.

The set is also Freeview Play enabled, with integrated access to all mainstream UK catch-up services, such as ITVX, Channel 4, UKTV Play, My5, and BBC iPlayer. There’s also a wide range of free to view boxsets.

The provision of a QLED panel improves the QF5D’s colour performance over its cheaper stablemates. It also supports a slimmer chassis, with a smart frameless 'bezel lite' design.

Picture processing comes via Toshiba’s TRU Picture Engine: TRU Resolution technology automatically upscales non-4K content, while TRU Micro Dimming technology analyses 300 different zones, for enhanced contrast and more precise HDR management. Motion interpolation is handled by TRU Flow, optimised to minimise judder.

The QF5D also supports Dolby Vision, to maximise picture quality on Dolby Vision encoded content from the likes of Netflix, Disney+ and AppleTV+.

The set’s stereo audio system is supplied by Onkyo. The screen has a Dolby Atmos decoder.

“The QF5D is packed with tech, offering incredible picture quality with fantastic, enhanced colour reproduction, making it the ideal model for people to enjoy more of their favourite big screen moments” says Bart Kuijten, Commercial Director Toshiba TV UK.

Emma Gilmartin, Director of Fire TV Europe, comments: “Customers in the UK have been loving Toshiba TVs with Fire TV built-in, so we are excited to expand the line-up even further with the launch of QF5D TVs. Our collaboration brings together Toshiba’s QLED technology and cinematic picture quality with Fire TV’s intuitive, content-forward experience that allows customers to easily find content they want to watch and control their smart homes with Alexa.”

The Toshiba 43QF5D, 50QF5D, 55QF5D and 65QF5D are priced at £329, £379, £429, £529 respectively, and are available now..
