The annual IER (Innovative Electrical Retailing) Awards returned to London July 4, celebrating outstanding achievement across the electrical retail and manufacturing sectors. Held at the Riverside Park Plaza Hotel, the event brought together leading figures from the AV, appliance, and smart home industries to recognise innovation, customer service, and business excellence.
Hosted by BBC Sports presenter and Strictly Come Dancing favourite Mike Bushell, the awards ceremony followed a packed day of activity, beginning with live product and service demonstrations that gave attendees a close-up look at the latest technology reshaping the industry.
The mid-morning sessions were followed by a drinks reception, with delegates networking over prosecco and conversation.
After a celebratory lunch, the awards presentation commenced, drawing cheers and whoops as businesses large and small were recognised for their achievements. The day concluded with further networking, giving delegates and winners an opportunity to discuss new trends, forge partnerships, and toast success.
The standout winners on the day included TCL Electronics UK and Metz, who shared the coveted Best Innovation in Consumer Electronics award. TCL impressed with its C805K MiniLED series, showcasing its latest in high-performance TV innovation, while Metz triumphed with its 65MQE7600ZUK QLED UHD Smart TV powered by TiVo, a product that has made waves among value-conscious home cinema fans.
Meanwhile, Sony UK was awarded the prestigious Best Industry Training Award, recognising its commitment to empowering retail partners with in-depth product knowledge and support. Sony was praised for delivering consistently high-quality training that enables retailers to better serve their customers, especially in the fast-evolving CE category.
Other standout awards included Shark Ninja’s Double Stack XL 9.5 Air Fryer for Best Innovation in Small Domestic Appliances, Electrolux Group’s AEG Saphir Matt Hob for Best Major Appliance Innovation, and Smiths TV, which claimed the title of Best Overall Independent Retail Business.
