SVS has taken the wraps off the latest addition to its R|Evolution line of subwoofers - the compact 3000 Micro R|Evolution. The new model promises serious low-frequency delivery from an easy to accommodate, 11-inch sealed enclosure. Distribution is via Karma-AV.

It may be bijou, but the model can still drop down to 20Hz, while maintaining tonal accuracy and musical control, making it more than suitable for home cinema and media room applications.

Key to its performance is a dual-opposed driver configuration. Two custom 9-inch high-excursion drivers mounted on opposing sides of the cabinet, fire in opposite directions. This force-balanced arrangement cancels out mechanical energy within the enclosure, reducing cabinet vibration and improving overall clarity.

This approach is said to mitigate one of the more common issues with micro subs, where enclosure resonance can colour the low-frequency output, particularly at high playback levels.

SVS has avoided the use of passive radiators, commonly deployed in compact designs to augment bass response, suggesting they can introduce less controlled, more resonant behaviour.

Instead, the emphasis here is on active driver control and amplifier headroom, with the aim of delivering tighter, more predictable performance across a wide range of room sizes.

Onboard amplification is rated at 1,200 watts, with peak output exceeding 4,000 watts, courtesy of Class D efficiency with a fully discrete MOSFET output stage. A proprietary switch-mode power supply is used to regulate voltage delivery, maintaining a consistent 160V rail and ensuring stable performance under dynamic load conditions.

Control is handled by a 295MHz Analog Devices DSP engine, which SVS describes as its most advanced implementation to date. With significantly increased processing power over previous generations, the DSP manages everything from driver behaviour and thermal limits to power delivery and signal integrity.

User setup and calibration are managed through the SVS Subwoofer Control app, which provides access to key parameters including volume, crossover, phase and polarity. The inclusion of multiple parametric EQ bands and onboard presets allows for more granular tuning in-room, while a forthcoming Auto Room EQ update is expected to further streamline integration in more complex environments.

The cabinet, which is made from extra-thick MDF panels, comes in a choice of piano gloss black or white finishes. Connectivity covers both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs.

The SVS 3000 Micro R|Evolution sells for £1,149, with shipping beginning May 2026.
