Strong has released an Android 10 based 4k media streamer box, with Google Assistant voice search and Chromecast built-in. The Leap S-1 will also support the Google Stadia 4k HDR cloud gaming service, when a firmware update drops later this year.
Suitable for media room use, the compact Leap S-1 offers access to a raft of streaming apps, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, BT Sport, My5 and YouTube, while Stadia subscribers will be able to access a broad range of titles, including Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Hitman World of Assassination, F1, FIFA, Red Dead 2, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six and Borderlands 3.
All Stadia games can be played over broadband using a compatible controller, a minimum 30 Mbps bandwidth is recommended. Premium games titles can be delivered in 4K HDR 60fps with 5.1-channel surround sound audio.
Beneath the hood is a quad-core, 1.8 KHz ARM Cortex-A53 processor, with 2GB of DDR4 RAM and 8GB of Flash storage.
In addition to a single HDMI output, there’s a 3.5mm stereo analogue audio output, an optical digital audio cable and two side-mounted USBs (one of which is USB 3.0), plus a Micro SD slot for further storage expansion. Connectivity is via Ethernet, Dual Band 802.11ac Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2.
The box measures 110 x 110 x 22mm and weighs a mere 170g, its remote control ships with dedicated Netflix and Amazon Prime video buttons and features an integrated Google Assistant mic button.
The name may be a new one to British CE retail, but Strong is a member of the Skyworth Digital Group. The Leap S-1 retails for £59.99.
