Dirac Live Active Room Treatment is now available on all StormAudio processors via a new major firmware upgrade.
StormAudio has announced that the new Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART) add-on is also now a standard feature in all its new AV processors.
Dirac Live Active Room Treatment is a digital room correction system designed to combat bass boom, and provide a more coherent soundstage.
Fredric Tapper, Dirac’s VP of Home & Pro Audio hails the technology as “a new standard in home theatre performance.” The Dirac Live Active Room Treatment module will remain a StormAudio exclusive until Q4 2023.
Utilising MIMO mixed-phase impulse response correction technology, it enables spatial optimisation. With decay times reduced by the algorithm, listeners will experience a clearer sound without boomy, smeared bass, digitally removing the limitations of the room, says the company.
'Installers will be well aware that bass can be problematic, taking a long time to decay, or just bouncing around the room...'
Installers will be well aware that bass can be problematic, taking a long time to decay, or just bouncing around the room, resulting in ringing or booming. Dirac Live ART automatically evaluates and adjusts the bass characteristics of an entire system.
Utilising a modular design, the ISP platform can be upgraded by hardware and software, and supports the Dirac Live Active Room Treatment tool.
“The Dirac and StormAudio teams have worked very hard on the release of the ART add-on, and we are excited for our StormAudio ISP users to experience the technology for themselves now,” said Olivier Thumerel, CEO, StormAudio. “We know that this will be a revolution for home calibration - digital post-processing can enable dramatic improvements of the user experience, with no further hardware investment required.”
The ART update is available on all StormAudio processors and AVRs through the 4.5 firmware update. It’s also included on all StormAudio products ordered from January 1, 2023 onward. Older kit requires a licence.
