Sony has announced two new series of Crystal LED displays, the bright BH-series and dynamic CH-series. Typical applications include corporations, retail environments and screening rooms.
The BH-series (comprising the ZRD-BH12D and ZRD-BH15D) and the CH-series (ZRD-CH12D and ZRD-CH15D) will both be available in a P1.2mm and P1.5mm pixel pitch, at a lower cost than previous generations, says Sony. Thanks to improvements in LED chip efficiency, power consumption is reduced by roughly 25 per cent.
The BH-series is distinguished by high brightness and a wide colour gamut while the CH-series offers superior black levels, giving installers the option to specify the best panels for a project.
The BH-series has a high brightness of 1,700 nits, while the CH-series offers 1,300 nits with a black level value that measures at approximately 1/10 of competitive LED displays.
Both use Sony’s X1 for Crystal LED image processor, with 22-bit Super Bit Mapping, Reality Creation and Motionflow built-in.
As a modular solution, customers can choose the size and resolution of the display. The new models come pre-assembled and calibrated to ensure a seamless appearance. We’re told a future firmware update will enable additional uniformity through auto colour adjustment.
The new series’ cabinets are about 10 per cent lighter and 10 per cent thinner than the current model, making them even easier to integrate. They also use a dedicated display controller, ZRCT-300.
With less on-site assembly required, installation can be up to 20 per cent faster than previous models.
“Our Crystal LED displays continue to be the gold standard,” said Damien Weissenburger, Head of Professional Display & Solutions Europe. “With the launch of the BH- and CH-series, we’ve made Crystal LED more accessible by giving our customers cost conscious options that inherit similar premium image quality, grandeur and dependability along with increased installation flexibility.”
The Crystal LED BH- and CH- series will be available in Spring 2023, and will be on view at Sony’s booth at ISE 2023.
In related news, Sony has announced new developments and additions to its Professional AV partnership network that offer compatible software solutions for additional power, creative freedom and enhanced capability to its line-up of BRAVIA 4K Professional Displays.
The partners include Cisco, Crestron, Kramer BRAINware, Crestron XiO, Navori Labs, NowSignage, Connect Signage, Easescreen, Korbyt, Smartsign, and signageOS. These partners will help Sony to offer a complete solution that matches the needs of end users and open up new opportunities in numerous vertical markets. Sony's standardised Android System-on-a-Chip (SoC) allows partners to deliver native software that outperforms software that must be adapted to the complex and proprietary operating systems being used by other SoC display manufacturers.
