Sony has announced a new addition to its professional display portfolio with the launch of the Crystal LED S Series, a range of direct-view LED displays to address mid-market dvLED solutions across corporate, education and commercial environments.
The new series is intended to provide high visibility and consistent image quality in brightly lit spaces, and importantly offers installers a more cost-conscious entry point into Sony’s Crystal LED ecosystem. Availability is planned for late spring 2026.
The Crystal LED S Series comprises two models: the ZRD-S12G and ZRD-S15G, featuring pixel pitches of 1.25mm and 1.56mm respectively. Both deliver a maximum brightness of 800 cd/m², making them suitable for meeting rooms, public-facing corporate spaces, education facilities and commercial installation, where ambient light is a constant challenge.
Sony describes the S Series as a scalable solution designed to bridge the gap between its Bravia professional displays, and higher-end dvLED offerings.
Rik Willemse, Head of Professional Displays & Solutions at Sony Europe, said the new range reflects the company’s focus on offering flexible options without compromising core performance attributes such as image quality, reliability and long-term value.
A key feature of the Crystal LED S Series appears to be its use of Anti-Reflection Surface Technology, previously seen in Sony’s BH Series dvLED displays. Combined with the 800 nits brightness level, this ensures accurate colour reproduction and improved contrast when deployed in large windows.
The displays use a slim cabinet design, measuring approximately 45mm in depth, helping to simplify wall mounting and contributing towards compliance with the European Accessibility Act when paired with suitable mounting systems. For integrators, this slimmer profile may be particularly relevant in retrofit projects or space-constrained environments.
The S Series is also compatible with NovaStar’s COEX MX30 and MX40 Pro controllers, allowing the distance between cabinets and controllers to be extended up to 100 metres. This supports greater flexibility in equipment placement and system design, particularly in larger installations.
From an operational perspective, Sony cites energy-efficiency, low surface temperatures and reduced power consumption as contributing factors to lower total cost of ownership. The displays include pre-calibrated modules to support accurate installation, alongside surface protection intended to guard against accidental contact and extend product lifespan.
As with other Crystal LED solutions, the S Series uses a bezel-free, modular architecture, enabling the construction of seamless video walls in a variety of sizes and aspect ratios to suit different applications.
The Crystal LED S Series is expected to be available from late spring 2026. The displays will make there debut at Integrated Systems Europe in Barcelona from February 3 - 6, the InfoComm in Las Vegas, from June 17–19.
