Sonus faber has unveiled the Concertino G4, the latest edition to its Concertino loudspeaker range. A two-way passive design, the new model combines cutting-edge audio technology with Sonus faber’s Italian craft heritage.
The design of Concertino G4 not only builds on previous Concertino models, but introduces its own innovations, including a patented, plant-based leather alternative, from Italian startup Ohoskin, in its finishings.
The first 300 pairs of Concertino G4 will be produced as ‘Maestro’ special editions, featuring a brass plaque complete with progressive numbering applied on the walnut side panel of the speaker.
The core innovation of the Concertino G4 can be found in its central chassis, which is crafted from cork, a material also used by the brand in its Suprema and Sonetto models. Here cork is paired with a mid woofer for the first time.
The loudspeaker has a distinctive trapezoidal shape, which limits internal resonances and reduces the need for additional damping material inside the cabinet.
The side walls are crafted from solid walnut and feature ribbed surfaces, enhancing structural integrity and rigidity without internal bracing. Recycled leather and the aforementioned plant-based leather cover the cork structure and front baffle.
Additional key features include an aluminium ring enclosing the silk tweeter, a reflex duct output crafted out of walnut wood and binding posts featuring a brass nameplate and wooden pull rod posts
Acoustic design sees a 25.4mm silk dome tweeter with D.A.D. technology, and a 127mm long-throw paper pulp midwoofer with an organic basket. A reflex duct positioned at the back of the cabinet, is used to prevent front turbulence.
The Concertino G4 will retail for £4,248 (€4.750 / $5.000), and is available from September.
