Sonos has announced a new multi-channel streaming amplifier for professional residential audio installations. Making its debut at ISE 2026, the Amp Multi, aims to address the growing complexity of modern homes, without sacrificing the simplicity that has typified previous Sonos CI offerings.

An evolution of the widely adopted Sonos Amp, Amp Multi extends the platform into larger and more sophisticated multi-room audio systems. As open-plan living, mixed-use spaces and higher speaker densities become more common, Sonos says integrators have been asking for a more scalable solution that can adapt as projects evolve, without increasing installation complexity or homeowner friction.

The new solution delivers eight amplified (125W) outputs, each configurable across up to four independent zones. Multiple units can be combined to support larger properties, allowing integrators to scale systems as required. According to Sonos, the goal is to make ambitious residential audio designs easier to deploy, commission and live with.

“Sonos Amp is the most widely used two-channel streaming amplifier in residential installation because it’s powerful, dependable, and intuitive,” said Tom Conrad, CEO of Sonos. “Amp Multi takes that same philosophy and applies it to larger systems. It makes ambitious designs more efficient to build and install, and easier to live with.”

At the core of Amp Multi is a flexible architecture designed around professional workflows. Any output can be assigned to any zone, and each output can support up to three Sonos Architectural speakers, enabling high-density installations across multiple rooms.

From a hardware perspective, Amp Multi uses a gallium nitride (GaN) power architecture paired with Class-D post-filter feedback. It’s a combination said to improve sonic accuracy and dynamic control, while delivering higher thermal efficiency. The fanless, convection-cooled design is intended to operate silently and remain stable over extended periods, reducing maintenance concerns in rack-based environments.
Setup and commissioning have also been streamlined. Each unit emits a unique audible chirp triggered from the Sonos app, allowing installers to identify hardware in the rack without manual PIN entry. Zone configuration, output assignment and source management are handled through the Sonos app, while homeowners are presented with the familiar Sonos user experience once the system is handed over.

Amp Multi also introduces ProTune, a new manual tuning tool. ProTune provides per-output control including a 10-band parametric EQ, gain adjustment, width control and delay offset, allowing fine tuning for challenging room acoustics or speaker placement. This sits alongside Optimize Sonos Speakers, which applies detailed DSP profiles for Sonos Architectural speakers.

The 1.5U chassis can be paired with a dedicated 2U rack mount, sold separately, which provides built-in ventilation space above and below each unit. A flat-back design with recessed connectors allows the amplifier to stand upright during installation, while the rack mount slides into place, reducing installation time and simplifying cable management.

Sonos Amp Multi will be available globally through authorised Sonos installation partners in the coming months. Pricing is TBA.
