Users of the Sonos Arc Dolby Atmos soundbar now have added functionality when it comes to fine-tuning their cinema sound. A new firmware update allows Arc owners to adjust the volume of the height channels when streaming Dolby Atmos content.

To adjust the volume of Arc’s height channels, users need to open the Sonos app and go to Settings > System > Arc > Height Audio.

The firmware update also addresses the issue of battery life of its Roam portable speaker. The wireless speaker typically offers around eight hours use. Sonos says ‘we’ve been working closely with our partners at Google to improve the battery life of Roam when Google Assistant is enabled. Today’s update ensures customers can get the most out of their battery life while enjoying Google voice control.’

The extended battery life will doubtless allow Sonos fans to spend more time listening to Sonos Radio, which is just as well: Sonos recently launched The Chemical Brothers’ new Psychetronik DJ mix, available on Radio Chemical, an exclusive station curated by The Chemical Brothers on Sonos Radio HD.

The Psychetronik Mix is their second offering available on the Sonos in-app.

The Chemical Brothers said: “The ‘psychetronik mix’ is a self defined genre, the point where musique concrete and psychedelic rock mix, where serious academic electronic composition merges with a more human sensibility. It features legends such as Delia Derbyshire, Pierre Henry and Morton Subtonik as well as many other pioneers at the frontiers of sound. Many of these records were discovered on tour, hunting through dusty record crates for a sleeve with an interesting equipment list or an intriguing description or a familiar name such as Tom Oberheim. Some found closer to home at record shops around the Portobello Road in West London. We hope you enjoy the journey into sound.”
