Sonance, the California-based pioneer in architectural audio, has announced the acquisition of Danish amplifier and loudspeaker specialist Blaze Audio, in a strategic move aimed at expanding its footprint in the global professional audio sector.
The acquisition, which includes Blaze Audio’s product line, sales, and marketing operations, brings the Copenhagen-based manufacturer under the Sonance umbrella. Blaze Audio is best known for its high-performance PowerZone™ Connect amplifier series, its Dante-enabled networked audio systems, and its complementary DSP platform, PowerZone Control.
Speaking on the acquisition, Sonance CEO Ari Supran positioned the move as a means to offer more complete audio system solutions to integrators and end-users alike.
“This is about more than just expanding our product portfolio,” said Supran. “It’s about bringing together two companies that share a commitment to quality, innovation, and customer-first thinking.”
He added that Blaze Audio’s amplifier and sound reinforcement technologies will be integrated with Sonance’s loudspeaker expertise to enhance offerings across residential, marine, and professional applications.
The deal signals a notable shift for Sonance, whose roots lie in high-end residential AV, towards more serious engagement in commercial audio. Blaze Audio’s footprint in hospitality, corporate, and retail installations will now be leveraged to help Sonance scale up in these areas.
Mike Sonntag, Chief Revenue Officer at Sonance Professional, described the acquisition as a catalyst for growth in the professional segment. “Blaze Audio's complete lineup of amplifiers and loudspeakers empowers us to deliver comprehensive audio solutions that better serve our global customers,” he said. “This is a major step forward in our expansion into the sound reinforcement category.”
For integrators, the implication is a move toward simplification, a single supplier able to provide complete system solutions with fewer interoperability issues and consistent support.
While the acquisition brings Blaze under the ownership of a US company, Sonance says it is committed to preserving the Danish brand’s identity and engineering heritage.
A dedicated European office will be maintained in Copenhagen, with Blaze Audio’s current General Manager George Tennet remaining in place. “Joining Sonance opens an exciting new chapter for Blaze Audio,” Tennet said. “Together, we’ll offer complete audio solutions, seamlessly integrating our advanced electronics with Sonance’s renowned loudspeaker technology.”
The acquisition also includes a formal partnership with Pascal A/S, Blaze Audio’s parent company, known for its OEM amplifier modules used by major pro audio brands.
Gustaf Høskuldsson, CEO of Pascal, expressed optimism about the deal, calling Sonance “the ideal home for Blaze to flourish further.”
With global supply chains under pressure and system interoperability a recurring pain point for integrators, this acquisition is likely to be viewed positively by many in the AV installation trade. However, questions remain about how Sonance will position Blaze Audio in relation to its existing Professional Series, and whether product overlap or rationalisation is on the horizon.
Blaze Audio and Sonance will jointly exhibit at InfoComm 2025 in Orlando, Florida, from 11–13 June (booth 6872), where integrated solutions from the combined companies will be on display for the first time.
