Sky Stream, the IP-delivered premium pay TV channel service from Sky, will be available in the UK from October 18. Using the same platform as Sky Glass, the compact 4k HDR media streamer can be used with any TV, and connects over Wi-Fi with no dish required.
Sky Stream is to be offered with the choice of a £29 31-day rolling plan that can be cancelled at any time, or with an 18-month contract.
The feature set is the same as Sky Glass, with Playlist cloud recording and Restart Live TV. It also ships with the Sky Glass voice remote. Voice search can be used to select channels, genres or individual series: Say 'House of the Dragon', or ‘Show me Sci-Fi' to search for shows or discover new content.
The UI is the same as Sky Glass. There is no local recording. Instead, if you find something you want to watch later, you can create a personal Playlist from apps and channels, both live and on demand. Click the ‘+’ on the remote and it’ll be saved in the cloud.
For those that want Sky Stream on more than One TV, there’s the Whole Home pack which is an extra £12 a month, which supports up to five additional Sky Stream devices. Sky Stream will deliver Dolby Atmos audio to a compatible device.
Combined Sky TV and Netflix packages will start at £26 a month for an 18 month contract. Built-in apps include Apple TV+, Amazon Prime, Disney+, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4, YouTube, Discovery+, Peacock, and Fiit.
Entry level packages comprise Sky Ultimate TV and Netflix Basic. Buyers can then add additional packs and services including Sky Cinema, Sky Sports, BT Sport and UHD and Dolby Atmos. There is a £39.95 set-up fee, or £20 if buyers take an 18-month contract.
