The Roku bandwagon continues to roll, with Sharp the latest TV brand to offer screens using the smart OS. The Sharp Roku TV series, which launches in the UK in August, will range in size from 24- to 65-inches.
Utilising a customisable home screen, which integrates the built-in tuner, the Roku OS offers an extensive range of streaming services, including Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+, Apple TV and Prime Video, as well as catch-up from BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, My5 and NOW.
The platform is also home to The Roku Channel, which features a wide range of free content, including the Awards-nominated movie Weird Al: The Al Yankovic Story, starring Daniel Radcliffe. To help content discovery, there’s voice search for titles, actors and directors.
The Sharp Roku 4K range supports HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG, while the smaller HD models have HDR10 compliance.
Control comes via standard remote and the Roku mobile app, which can also be used for private listening. The sets work with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri. Screen mirroring is also possible thanks to Airplay 2 or Miracast.
The Sharp Roku sets will be available from Amazon and other highstreet stores, with prices starting from £150.
“Sharp Roku TV models bring the popular Roku TV experience to consumers, with easy access to live TV, streaming services and free entertainment,” said Arthur van Rest, VP International at Roku.
“We are excited to expand our collaboration with Roku and bring an entire line-up of Sharp Roku TVs to the United Kingdom,” adds Sascha Lange, Vice President Marketing & Sales at Sharp.
