Samsung has shown a second generation QD-OLED TV at CES 2023 that’s 30 per cent brighter than last year’s debut.

The incoming S95C features a number of refinements over its predecessor, including higher average picture level and improved colour fidelity.

The brand is also expanding screen size options, offering a 77-inch model alongside its 55- and 65-inch screens.

The picture improvement has been made possible by a new hyper efficient ETL (electron transport layer) and Intellisense AI v2.0 pixel controller.

The material used for the ETL increases the resonance of light and minimises light absorption. The end result is a brighter screen with better black levels.

The new model was unveiled by Samsung at its CES 2023 First Look event, and Inside CI was on hand to take a closer look. We noted exceptional colour depth and vibrancy, with dramatic HDR highlights and superb near black detail.

Screen brightness on all QD-OLED sizes will rise from 1,500 nits to 2,000 nits.

The new 2023 QD-OLED panels will also offer reduced power consumption with extended lifetime reliability. Samsung Display told us that this would be twice that of its first gen QD-OLED panel.

Price and availability have yet to be announced.
