Samsung has announced two new flagship Dolby Atmos soundbars for 2025. The Q-Series HW-Q990F and HW-QS700F combine some interesting AI-driven sound technologies, allowing for tailored audio experiences, with typically sleek and inventive design.
The HW-Q990F is Samsung’s top-tier offering, building on the success of its predecessor, the HW-Q990D.The unit ships with two rear channel wireless speakers and a completely redesigned compact subwoofer, with an 8-inch dual active driver. The channel configuration is said to be 11.1.4.
Features include Dynamic Bass Control, to reduce distortion in low frequencies, and Active Voice Amplifier Pro, which enhances dialogue clarity by dynamically adjusting and compensating in real time to reduce background noise.
The model is also Q-Symphony enabled. When paired with compatible Q-Series Samsung TVs, the audio output of all devices can synchronised to create a more enveloping 3D surround sound experience.
The HW-Q990F is also able to utilise the Samsung TV’s Neural Processing Unit (NPU) when in Q-Symphony mode, said to make dialogue clearer and audio more immersive.
The step-down, slimline HW-QS700F (pictured above) boasts a neat adaptive design with gyro-sensor, making it suitable for both wall and table mounts. The gyro-sensor detects the soundbar’s orientation and adjusts audio output accordingly, whether wall-mounted or placed on a tabletop.
Shipping with a compact subwoofer, the channel configuration is listed as 3.1.2.
In addition to Dolby Atmos and DTS:X codec support, booth models will also work with the new Eclipsa 3D sound format, developed with Google for YouTube content.
“Our new soundbars combine exceptional audio quality with seamless convenience,” said Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “With advanced AI technology in the HW-Q990F and the HW-QS700F’s innovative convertible design, these soundbars effortlessly adapt to any environment, delivering an immersive and personalised audio experience for every user.”
The soundbars will be available later this year, with pricing TBC.
