Rotel unveils custom install multi-zone music amplifiers

Rotel has announced two new custom installation amplifiers, the C8 and C8+. The Class AB amplifiers deliver eight channels of high-performance multi-zone audio, andare powered by an oversized, toroidal transformer, manufactured in-house.

The C8 delivers 70 watts of power per channel into 4-ohm loads, while the C8+ delivers 150 watts of power per channel into 4-ohm loads, with all channels driven.

Both models have a convenient, 2U height chassis, and ship with rack ears. Speaker outputs utilise detachable Phoenix connectors for pre-wire installation with secure screw-locking mechanisms.

Zone outputs are bridged delivering 140W and 300W respectively into 4 ohms and an auto-sensing, auto-switching PA Override feature ensures ultimate installation flexibility. Both units feature four analogue source inputs, which are available to all zone outputs through internal matrix switching; these are further customisable with independent volume, balance, bass, and treble settings.

The C8+ also includes two optical and two coaxial digital inputs supporting 24-bit/192kHz audio matrixed to the outputs.

For install-friendly setup and operation, there’s a graphic display with controls to ensure including selection of the active matrixed input source and volume control of each zone in real time.

Control system integration comes via RS232, Ethernet and 12V trigger connectivity. The C8 and C8+ will launch in the US in May, with the rest of the world to follow.

The Rotel C8 and C8+ are priced at £2,350 ($2,599, € 2,600) and £2,850 ($3,199, € 3,200) respectively.
