Rotel makes surprise return to passive speakers with Amora 5 stand‑mount model

Rotel has returned to passive loudspeakers with the Amora 5, a compact two‑way bass‑reflex model.

The launch marks a notable shift for Rotel, a brand best known for its amplifiers, CD players and digital source components. The new stand‑mount speaker, which measures a tidy 350 × 190 × 300 mm, has been engineered to integrate with Rotel electronics, and boasts carefully matched drive units, a precision‑tuned crossover and a rigid MDF enclosure intended to deliver accuracy, low distortion and a wide, open stereo image.

Behind the magnetically attached grille, a 25.4mm silk‑dome tweeter has been paired with a 6.5‑inch woven‑fibre composite mid/bass driver. The tweeter sits within an aluminium surround ring for secure mounting, and its ABS faceplate is shaped to minimise diffraction and provide a smooth transition to the cabinet baffle. The mid/bass driver is built on a rigid aluminium frame to maintain mechanical stability and alignment, helping reduce structural vibration and ensuring consistent performance.

A 2.5 kHz crossover blends the two drivers. Rotel quotes an extended operating range from 48 Hz to 28 kHz, with sensitivity rated at 87 dB and recommended amplifier power between 30 and 120 watts.

Available in Matte Black and Matte White finishes, the MDF cabinet features a rear‑mounted reflex port tuned to extend low‑frequency output. Dual gold‑plated terminals support single‑wire or bi‑wire installation.

The Rotel Amora 5 will be available through authorised dealers in August 2026, priced at £999 (€999 / $999) per pair.
