Roku is to begin rolling out its 11.5 OS to all Roku devices in the UK. The new firmware ushers in a fistful of new features designed to improve search and playback.
The five new updates are: Save List, Entertainment Details, Visual Search Results, Updates to Entertainment Details, New Visuals When Searching with Roku Voice and Bluetooth Private Listening.
The Save List option can be found in the Roku Home Screen menu and allows users to produce a custom watch list of TVs and movies that appear on the Home Page.
Visual Search Results adds artwork with searches, which are categorised into TV and Movies, Channels, Cast and Crew, and Roku Zones. The Roku OS will also include suggested queries on the search bar, to speed up navigation.
Searches will also benefit from more information on where a title is available to stream, with results organised by free and premium services.
Roku says it has also improved voice search with this new firmware, with more graphical search results gleaned from Roku Voice, and brought Bluetooth Private Listening to the Roku Streambar.
In related news, Roku has just dropped its biggest Original to date, Weird: The Weird Al Yankovic Story, featuring Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe. The Roku Original film follows the career of the eccentric Grammy-winning musician Weird AI Yankovic. It’s available to stream for all Roku, Sky Q and NOW streaming device users for free on The Roku Channel.
