Roksan, one of the UK’s most respected high-fidelity audio brands, is marking its 40th anniversary in 2025. Founded in London in 1985, the company built its reputation on innovative engineering, distinctive design and a close connection to music reproduction, becoming a fixture in the listening rooms of audiophiles worldwide.
The brand’s first product, the Xerxes turntable, quickly gained critical attention from specialist press and consumers alike. Writing in Stereophile in 1986, the late Art Dudley praised the Xerxes as a breakthrough for rhythmically and melodically focused listeners, describing it as “so good, and so superior to the pre-Lingo LP12” that it could not be ignored.
From that debut to the recently launched Caspian Series 4G amplifier line, Roksan has continued to combine advanced technology with traditional craftsmanship. Under Monitor Audio Group ownership since 2016, the brand has benefited from expanded R&D capabilities, investment in new production facilities, and the integration of expertise in electronics, software and mechanical engineering. Caspian Series 4G models are now hand-built at the group’s headquarters in Essex.
“Roksan has followed its own path, defined by distinctive design, thoughtful engineering and a clear point of view,” said Michael Johnson, Global Marketing Director at Monitor Audio Group. “Its personality is quietly unconventional, often expressed through unique forms and innovative ideas.”
To mark the milestone, Roksan has released a commemorative long-form brochure and an anniversary video featuring team members past and present. Software Test Manager Joe Deller noted that Roksan’s strength lies in the passion of its engineers: “Hi-fi is deeply personal, it’s about what sounds right, what feels right. That passion is what sets us apart.”
