UK light-switch manufacturer Retrotouch has launched the KNX-RF wireless energy harvesting light switch, in partnership with European switches and sensors brand ZF.
Members of the KNX Association, the two companies suggest the move heralds a move to energy-efficient, battery-free, maintenance-free wireless switches for the home automation industry.
With no batteries or cables, the ZF KNX-RF energy harvesting switch can be placed anywhere, and will connect seamlessly into any KNX system. It can be used as part of a bespoke system, or retrofitting into an already existing twisted-pair KNX system, using ZF mediacouplers, also available from Retrotouch.
Compatible with KNX-RF 2.0 Ready S-Mode, the switch is configurable with ETS software ( version 5 onwards) and can be programmed to control a light, blind or window shutters.
The switches are available in white or black to match the feel of any interior, and feature the screwless glass surfaces familiar from the Retrotouch Crystal range.
“We’re thrilled to be launching this collaboration with ZF and to be bringing a new dimension to the KNX community,” Amit Ravat, managing director of Retrotouch, said. “These innovative switches work directly with the KNX system completely wirelessly, and can be retrofitted anywhere, making installs faster and easier.”
