Epson has launched a new projector into the fast growing Laser TV market. The 4k PRO-UHD EH-LS650 joins its EpiqVision range, and runs the popular Android TV smart platform, with Chromecast built-in.
Brightness is rated at 3,500 lumens, which should ensure it works well in daylit rooms as well as dark room theatres. HDR support covers HDR10 and HLG. Connectivity includes two HDMI inputs, one of which is eARC and supports Dolby Atmos passthrough.
The Ultra Short Throw projector also sports a 2.1 20W Yamaha designed sound system, which can also operate as a stand-alone smart speaker, if you simply weant to stream music. Extensive connectivity and easy set-up position the model as an alternative to a large screen TV.
Available in either black or white, the model has a 3LCD 'pixel shifting' light engine and can project 2160p images up to 120-inch. Input lag is rated under 20ms input lag, by Epson, which should make it a contender for gamers.
Largely plug and play, installation is aided by the Epson Setting Assistant app which automatically applies keystone correction, using the smartphone’s camera.
“It’s never been easier to replace your TV and get big screen entertainment in your home.” says Amy Ng, product manager for home cinema products at Epson Europe. “Not only does it look stunning, but it also sounds incredible too.”
The EH-LS650 is available from October, priced at £2,300.
