In news certain to excite audiophiles, British Hi-Fi company Q Acoustics has announced the 5000 loudspeaker series. The range consists of five models: the 5010 bookshelf, 5020 standmount, 5040 floorstander, 5050 large floorstander, and 5090 centre channel.
What makes these speakers particularly noteworthy is the introduction of the C3 Continuous Curved Cone profile mid/bass driver, hailed as a genuine advancement in driver design.
The promise is of exceptional bass dynamics and a high-frequency performance. Hip-hop, electronic, and rock genres should all sound particularly impressive, we reckon, but knowing Q Acoustics, the 5000 series will handle any genre thrown at it.
The series also inherits innovative cabinet and driver technology from Q Acoustics' flagship Concept range, which further enhances their sonic performance.
The 5000 series boasts a minimalist design, with baffle fronts laminated with a layer of butyl rubber and black acrylic trim. This not only provides a damping layer to suppress vibration but also offers an eye-catching look, uninterrupted by any fixings.
The speakers are available in four finishes, including Satin Black, Satin White, Santos Rosewood, and Holme Oak.
The 5040 and 5050 floorstanding models come with solid aluminum stabilizers that feature top adjustable spikes for easier levelling adjustment. Low-profile speaker terminals provide a tidy appearance, enabling the speaker to be placed closer to the back wall if required.
The 5000 series can be used either in a stereo configuration, or full-blown 5.1 home cinema setup. The star attraction here is the 5090 centre-channel speaker. Integrators can choose from either the slimline 3060S subwoofer or the more powerful Q B12 for low-end sonics.
The 5000 series makes its worldwide debut at the Axpona Show in Chicago this weekend.
