British Hi-Fi outfit Q Acoustics has unveiled the M20, a hi-res stereo wireless music system for music, movies or gaming. Ideal for media room duties, the standmount enclosures offer aptX HD Bluetooth v5.0, for easy streaming from smartphones and compatible devices, alongside a digital optical audio input, analogue phonos and minijack for local sources.

Users can wirelessly stream high-resolution audio up to 24-bit/48kHz. The M20 can also connect to a laptop via USB for hi-res audio in 24bit/192kHz. There’s also subwoofer output, if extra bass is required.

The M20 features a 22mm tweeter, decoupled to minimise any internal vibrations, and 125mm mid/bass driver with rear-firing reflex port. Power output is rated at a prodigious 130 watts (2x65W).

Compact at 279 x 170 x 296mm (h/w/d), the new active speakers feature the brand’s P2P (Point to Point) cabinet bracing, commonly found on the brand’s passive speakers. P2P bracing support the parts of the cabinet enclosure that need to be stiffened, improving the focus of the stereo image, and giving the soundstage more accuracy. The curved grille is also designed to disperse any tweeter activity, keeping unwanted reflections to a minimum.

Installation appears straightforward. Integrators can assign the powered speaker as either the left or right channel (which helps, when sitting next to a mains power source), and there’s also an EQ switch to compensate for location - you can position the M20 in a corner, against a wall or in free space, without penalty. Stands and wall-brackets are also available.

The Q Acoustics M20 HD wireless music system sells for £399. Distribution is via Armour Home.
