PSB expands BluOS ecosystem with iQ streaming speakers

Canadian audio specialist PSB has introduced the iQ Series, a fresh new line of BluOS-enabled bookshelf speakers with next-gen Class-D amplification and seven colourful finishes.

The line comprises two models: the iQ1, a compact stereo streaming system, and the iQ2, a true wireless stereo pair.

Both are built on the acoustic platform first seen in the Alpha iQ, but with upgraded amplification and expanded connectivity.

The iQ Series is built around BluOS, the multiroom streaming platform that offers access to more than twenty streaming services, with high‑resolution audio up to 24‑bit/192kHz. Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Bluetooth with aptX Adaptive add further flexibility.

A built‑in MM phono stage, RCA and optical inputs, HDMI eARC and USB‑C audio ensure the speakers can integrate cleanly with TVs, turntables, laptops and mobile devices. A subwoofer output with DSP‑enabled filtering also allows installers to extend low‑frequency performance with a powered sub.

At the heart of the iQ Series is a new TI Burr Brown Class‑D amplifier platform delivering 270 watts of system power. Each speaker uses a 4‑inch polypropylene mid‑bass driver with a steel basket and rubber surround, partnered with a 0.75‑inch aluminium dome tweeter featuring a neodymium magnet and ferrofluid damping.

The iQ1 pairs its tweeters to a shared two‑channel amplifier delivering 45 watts per channel, while the iQ2 employs independent 45‑watt amplifiers for each tweeter.

A DSP‑controlled crossover, tuned bass ports and optimised low‑frequency extension reportedly allow both models to produce deeper, more controlled bass than their size suggests.

The iQ1 is positioned as an accessible entry point into PSB’s streaming range. A wired stereo link keeps both channels perfectly synchronised, and the model is offered in Black or White vinyl finishes.

The iQ2 moves to a wireless stereo architecture using a low‑latency link between left and right speakers. It’s available in seven finishes, including Ember Red, Boreal Green, Granite Grey, Sandstone Beige and a premium Walnut Veneer with copper accents. A fingerprint‑resistant coating is applied across the line.

Mack Tommy, Product Manager at PSB Speakers, says the series reflects a shift in how listeners approach high‑fidelity audio. “There is a growing segment of customers that want true high‑fidelity sound without the complexity of traditional separates, and iQ is our answer to that shift. It brings together PSB’s acoustic legacy with a more accessible, design‑forward, and all‑in‑one approach.”

Matt Simmonds, VP of Product Development, highlights the engineering focus behind the new platform. “Every aspect of the iQ Series was engineered to deliver real stereo performance from a simplified system. From the new amplifier platform to the DSP tuning and driver integration, we focused on maximizing output, clarity, and control within a compact form factor.”

The iQ2 is priced at £1,199 (€1,299) for colour finishes and £1,299 (€1,399) for Walnut Veneer. The iQ1 sells for £899 (€999).
