Primare has launched a new home cinema preamplifier/processor, and distributor Karma AV has it. The SP25 Prisma boasts 4K dynamic HDR switching and eARC support, with 11 channels of processing and preamplification, supported by a custom linear power supply and tuned output stage.
The power supply feeds optimised low noise power to individual audio processing, digital-to-analogue conversion, video switching and streaming stages, while the preamplification circuitry takes advantage of the shortest possible single-ended signal path - including a new ultra-linear IC op amp - to generate an output signal ideally partnered with Primare’s A35.8 and A35.2 amplifiers.
Compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS X, the preamp offers 17 customisable input presets to cater for combination of digital and analogue, video and audio input configurations, combined with five customisable speaker setup presets for a variety of speaker and DSP configurations, depending on viewing and listening requirements.
For the audiophiles, a unique digital-to-analogue conversion circuit involving dual 8-channel DAC chips allocates 4 channels of conversion when delivering signal to the front left and right analogue outputs, for the most effective bi-amping of the main speakers.
The Prisma network player is able to stream hundreds of music services including high resolution platforms like Qobuz, Spotify, and Tidal HiFi.
To aid installation, there’s Dirac Live Room Correction with patented algorithms to analyse and digitally reduce the impact of the room, enhancing the performance of any audio system.
Dirac optimises the sound not only with respect to frequency, but also to phase, combining a linear frequency response with precise arrival time for outstanding detail and clarity in both two and multi-channel listening.
Control and connectivity are provided by the Prisma music streaming/system control platform and Prisma remote, which is capable of controlling virtually every Primare model, past and present, as well as any video display.
The Primare SP25 Prisma AV preamp/processor retails for £4,300.
