PMC marked its 35th anniversary with a music‑industry celebration at the Capitol Records Tower, Los Angeles, showcasing its newest main monitor systems to artists, engineers and industry executives.
The event brought together Grammy‑winning performers, producers and senior figures from Universal Music Group for an evening of live music and critical listening. Melody Gardot, Sheléa and Kevin Ricard performed in the Tower’s inner studios, underscoring PMC’s long association with professional music production.
For PMC, the venue was symbolic: Capitol Studios has relied on the company’s monitors for more than a decade, and now features a major new installation of over 50 of PMC’s latest loudspeakers across all six studios.
Capitol Studios has recently undergone a significant refurbishment to coincide with its 70th anniversary. The upgrade includes new PMC10‑4 main monitors and custom subwoofers in Studios A and B, supported by PMC6 nearfields. Studio C now uses PMC15 XBD systems for stereo and immersive work, with Ci140s, Ci65s and BST subs handling surround and height duties.
Studios D and E have been equipped with PMC8‑2 XBD systems and additional PMC8‑2 SUB units, while Studio F’s Dolby Atmos suite uses twotwo.8 monitors and Wafer1s. PMC hi‑fi and Ci on‑wall speakers have also been installed throughout offices and boardrooms. The PMC10‑4, the flagship of the new range, draws on the architectural principles of the QB1 and incorporates four 10‑inch drivers in an ATL design with LaminairX airflow, a PMC75v3 midrange dome and a 34mm tweeter, powered by dedicated Master36 and power20 amplification totalling 5,600 watts.
PMC co‑CEOs Oliver Thomas and Tom Loader described the project as the largest installation in the company’s history, reflecting both Capitol’s trust in PMC and the continued evolution of its monitor technology
“This project represents the single biggest installation we have undertaken in our 35 years,” said PMC co-CEO Oliver Thomas. “It is a huge honour to have been selected by such a prestigious facility and reflects the esteem in which our studio monitors are held by the biggest names in music production.”
