Panasonic has confirmed that it is using the new high brightness LG Display OLED panel with Micro Lens Array, in its 2023 flagship television, the MZ2000... well at least two of them.
Launched at CES 2023, the new model will ship in 55-, 65-, and 77-inch sizes. In addition, the new panel, the model will feature a next generation heat management system, as well as proprietary picture and audio processing improvements.
The MZ2000 introduces a new custom module, called the ‘Master OLED Ultimate’, which boasts a peak brightness increase of approximately 50 per cent, compared to last year’s models. Average picture brightness is also improved.
In a comparison with the LZ2000, the new screen delivers a peak HDR brightness of just under 1500 nits, compared to 1000 nits on the 2022 model.
Just to complicate things, the biggest MZ2000 screen does not have the new panel tech. It uses the Master OLED Pro glass from 2022.
For streaming sources, a new Streaming 4K Remaster algorithm identifies the resolution of the source material and analyses textures by area, for maximum detail.
Once again, Panasonic is supporting a wide range of HDR formats on its flagship, including Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive, and HLG Photo.
There’s also an updated iteration of Filmmaker mode, with ambient colour temperature sensing for different lighting conditions. Colour tuning is by Hollywood colourist Stefan Sonnenfeld.
Two of the MZ2000’s four HDMI inputs support v2.1 features, including full 4K resolution, up to 120Hz, ultra-low latency, VRR, with AMD Freesync Premium and NVIDIA G-SYNC support.
Price and availability for the Panasonic MZ2000 are yet to be confirmed.
