Odeon will open its second Dolby Cinema in London next month. The Odeon Luxe West End will start serving popcorn in Leicester Square, as part of The Londoner hotel’s £300m development.

In what’s good news for the premium cinema exhibition business and movie fans alike, the multiscreen Odeon Luxe West End will boast a flagship Dolby Cinema screen, powered by a dual Dolby Vision laser projector and Dolby Atmos audio.

The new Dolby Cinema is just a short walk from the flagship Odeon Leicester Square home to the UK’s first Dolby Cinema, and the Odeon Luxe Haymarket.

We’re told the screen measures 13.3m and the auditorium has 67 speakers in situ. It will have 168 seats, made up of 166 luxury recliners, plus two for wheelchair access. To build on the experience, we’re also promised a nine metre audio visual entrance ‘to tantalise cinemagoers before they take their seats.’

The new screens are part of the continued rollout of Odeon Luxe, a premium proposition that combines the best in cinematic experience with the ultimate comfort and enhanced food and beverage options.

True to form, there will be an Art-Deco styled Oscar's Bar, named after Odeon’s founder Oscar Deutsch, and there will also be an Order & Collect service will be in operation, allowing guests to book their tickets, treats and drinks in advance through the app, web or at the in-cinema kiosks.

Carol Welch, Managing Director Odeon Cinemas Group UK, Ireland said: “I am delighted to be announcing the opening of Odeon Luxe West End in Leicester Square. We have been really encouraged by the reaction of those returning to our cinemas and this investment further highlights how committed we are to making movies better for our guests, providing the best cinematic experience possible with the continued rollout of Odeon Luxe. I would like to say a huge thank you to all our colleagues for their amazing commitment, resilience and hard work over the last 12 months. We’ve all missed the magic that the cinemas bring to movie watching, and we can’t wait for guests to experience our newest cinema in the heart of the West End.”

John Trafford-Owen, Senior Director Dolby Cinema Group, Europe added: “Every element of Dolby Cinema is thoughtfully designed to help moviegoers make the journey from the ordinary world to the world of the movie they are watching and we can’t wait to bring that Dolby Cinema experience to even more people in London’s West End.”
