Russound has announced the AVA Series of mini-AVRs, designed to enhance the audio output of TVs. The two models in the AVA Series, the AVA2.1 and AVA3.1 hide behind a telly and allow audio to be routed to any in-ceiling, in-wall, or bookshelf loudspeakers.
The compact, low-profile AVAs are suitable for mounting behind the TV, within an in-wall back box or attached to the TV mount for a discreet installation. Distribution is by Connected Distribution
Audio is routed from a screen via HDMI ARC, and thanks to CEC control, the TV remote can double as the volume control of the AVA.
When connected to a smart TV, integrators can effectively turn the amplifier into an audio hub, able to handle Apple Airplay and Google Chromecast. Additional connectivity includes digital optical, analogue line level and Bluetooth 5.0.
The AVA2.1 contains two speaker level outputs, with a 50 watt per channel amplifier and a line level subwoofer output for use with a powered sub. It’s best paired with ceiling speakers, bookshelf monitors or a couple of compact wall mounted speakers. The 50 watt per channel, three channel AVA3.1 can also be used with ceiling and wall mounted speakers, as well as a passive soundbar.
“This is yet another very smartly designed product from Russound,” says Mike Bonnette, Connected Distribution’s product director. “The engineers listened to the needs of installers and end-users and it was clear that the requirement was for a compact amplifier that used HDMI ARC enabling the TV to be the audio hub of the home entertainment system. And, for added flexibility, permitted a multitude of audio connections to fit as many situations as possible. We are excited to be able to offer these products to the UK installer market as a quick, easy, and high-quality way of dramatically enhancing TV sound, and feel sure they will win many fans.”
The AVA2.1 and AVA3.1 are scheduled to ship in January, and are priced at £299 and £399 respectively.
