Monitor Audio has expanded its premium Studio 89 loudspeaker range with the introduction of a new High Gloss White finish. It joins the original High Gloss Black model, first introduced in 2024, and continues the brand’s mission to deliver high-performance sound in visually distinctive enclosures.
The Studio 89 draws its design inspiration from Monitor Audio’s iconic Studio Series of the 1980s, blending heritage styling with thoroughly modern engineering. Compact yet capable of delivering a wide and immersive soundstage, the Studio 89 is pitched at audiophiles, interior-conscious clients, and AV professionals looking for a speaker that performs as impressively as it presents.
Despite its modest dimensions, the Studio 89 is acoustically ambitious. At its core lies a point-source MTM (Mid-Tweeter-Mid) array, featuring the latest MPD III high-frequency transducer flanked by twin 108mm RDT III bass-mid drivers. These drive units are matched with a third-order crossover, optimised for precise frequency integration and tightly controlled dispersion.
Each bass-mid cone incorporates a tri-layer design – C-CAM outer skin, Nomex honeycomb core, and woven carbon fibre base – offering exceptional rigidity with minimal weight. The crossover is fitted with premium components, preserving signal integrity and minimising distortion.
The cabinet structure has been engineered for strength and sonic transparency. An 18mm thick front baffle, 15mm side walls, and internal bracing ensure a rigid, resonance-resistant housing. Airflow is guided through HiVe II slot ports located top and bottom, designed to reduce turbulence and port noise.
The matching Studio 89 Stand, previously available only in black, is now also offered in High Gloss White. Built from a combination of laser-cut steel, extruded aluminium and die-cast aluminium, the stand ensures stability and acoustic optimisation. Adjustable feet accommodate both hard and carpeted surfaces.
The Monitor Audio Studio 89 in High Gloss White is priced at £2,000 (€2,350 / $2,500) per pair. The matching Studio 89 Stand in white is available for £500 (€600 / $625) per pair. Both are available from July 2025.
