Monitor Audio has announced the Anthra Subwoofer Series, a three-strong range that majors on musicality as much as slam.
The Anthra Series comprises the Anthra W15, Anthra W12 and Anthra W10.
All three models have copious amplification. The W15 is powered by a Class-D 1,400 Watt amplifier; the Anthra W12 sees a 12-inch driver powered by a Class D 900 Watt amplifier, while the smallest, the Anthra W10 has 425 Watts driving a 10-inch cone.
All three models feature rigid C-CAM cones with Rigid Surface Technology II, a first for the brand. RST11 significantly increases cone rigidity, allowing the radiating surfaces to resist the mechanical bending forces that can twist the shape of conventional driver cones, thereby preventing distortion.
Up to four Anthra subwoofers can be daisy chained together. In addition to standard LFE inputs, there’s also XLR to extend professional installation options. There’s also a full-colour display on the rear panel, with a rotary dial, to access the setup selection menu.
Monitor Audio says this simplifies setup and system integration with a home cinema. Cabinets are thick MDF, with up to 36mm thick external walls and 19mm internal walls.
Control is via the new MaestroUnite app, which allows users to configure their Anthra subwoofer, and if multiple subwoofers are used within a single system, allows the same settings to be delivered across them all simultaneously.
The Monitor Audio Anthra W10 sells for £1,650 (€2,150 / $2,350); the Anthra W12 is £1,900 (€2,450 / $2,700) and Anthra W15: £2,500 (€3,200 / $3,500).
