Monitor Audio Group is providing the audio infrastructure for the new Museum of Youth Culture in London. The 6,500 sq ft venue occupies the St Pancras Campus and documents the role of youth fashion, music, politics, and creativity over successive generations.
Spread across four distinct spaces, it blends photography, memorabilia and personal stories, and charts the influence of youth movements, from the post-war period through to the present day.
A key element of the project is a bespoke sound system installation created by audiovisual artist and Notting Hill Carnival Chairperson Linett Kamala. Developed in collaboration with Monitor Audio, the installation draws inspiration from Britain's long-standing sound system culture and community gathering traditions.
At its heart is Monitor Audio's THX Ultra Certified Cinergy Series, deployed within the museum's main gallery space and chosen for the scale and impact required for immersive AV.
Elsewhere, Monitor Audio’s Architectural Series integrate discreetly within the museum's industrial interior design. Climate Series 3G CL2 M loudspeakers have been installed throughout, while the company's Installation Amplifiers 2G and streaming amplifiers provide individual audio zones, tailored to specific exhibitions and events.
“Our commitment to quality audio aligns perfectly with the museum’s mission to preserve and celebrate youth culture,” says Michael Johnson, Global Marketing Director of Monitor Audio Group.
“This partnership is a fantastic opportunity to connect with music lovers of all ages and provide a rich, authentic listening experience that brings the stories and exhibits of youth culture to life.”
Alongside its permanent displays, the museum will host a programme of talks, workshops, presentations and community initiatives throughout the year.
Open to the public, The Museum of Youth Culture is located on the St. Pancras Campus in Camden, London.
