McIntosh has announced an HDMI upgrade for the MX123 AV Processor that will support 8k and 4k at High Frame Rates.
Launching October, all new MX123 AV Processors shipping from the McIntosh factory will support 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120 Hz video resolutions and refresh rates, as standard. The MX123 will also be able to upscale lower resolutions to 8k. The previous iteration has ceased production.
The MX123 benefits from 10 HDMI connections; one of the inputs and two of the outputs will have 8K/60 Hz and 4K/120Hz support (all continue to support 4K/60 Hz).
HDR coverage includes standard HDR, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision. HDMI eARC/ARC is also onboard.
The three HDMI ports that are 8K/60 Hz-compatible will also offer Quick Media Switching (QMS); Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM); Quick Frame Transport (QFT) and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).
All 10 HDMI support HDCP 2.3; Rec. 2020; 4:4:4 colour spacing; Dynamic Lip-sync; and 3D Video pass-through.
In addition to the video upgrades, the MX123 continue to offer 13.2 processing; Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro; Auro-3D; Sony 360 Reality Audio; MPEG-H Audio, and IMAX Enhanced certification.
Wireless functionality covers Apple AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth. Room calibration is via Audyssey MultEQ XT32.
To facilitate integration into home automation systems, the MX123 has Connects with Control4 and Works with Crestron Home certification.
The all-new MX123 8k processor will sell for £10,495 Distribution is via Fine Sounds UK.
