Designed for audiophiles and home cinema, the new McIntosh PS1K subwoofer boasts two 13-inch drivers featuring the brand’s proprietary Low Distortion/High Performance (LD/HP) Magnetic circuit design, driven by two 500-watt Class D amplifiers
The PS1K’s woofers are made from multi-layer carbon fibre cones, said to offer superior rigidity and clarity, by resisting flex at high outputs. Advanced features include McIntosh's LD/HP Magnetic Circuit, for reduced distortion, and Power Guard for protection.
While the PS1K is designed to complement McIntosh speakers, it remains versatile enough to grace any high-end audio system. There’s a range of inputs and outputs, balanced and unbalanced, along with adjustable filters, and parametric EQ.
McIntosh’s Power Guard and Sentry Monitor technologies are built into the PS1K to protect against overloading and short circuits, which should ensure reliable, long-term performance.
As with all McIntosh components, design and build quality look outstanding. A sealed box design, the 3.8cm thick enclosure baffle eliminates port noise and vibration, while a high-gloss black finish, carbon trim, and an aluminium base ensure it’ll grace any environment. Glide feet are provided for hard floors, and spikes for carpets.
The PS1K retails for £35,995 (€41,999 / $50,000).
