Magico S3 Hi-Fi floorstander boasts £1,000,000 DNA

Californian-based Hi-Fi specialist Magico has redesigned its S3 floorstander, using technology trickled down from the flagship M9, which costs close to £1,000,000 per pair.

Due to launch early 2023, this new iteration will offer listeners a taste of that model’s performance, at a fraction of the price, albeit still expensive given models start from 56,998.

A key model in the company’s mid-level S Series, it sits between the A Series and M Series, and replaces the existing S3 MkII. The name may be similar, but every element of the new 2023 model has been revised and re-engineered.

New chassis profiles have been developed for the S3’s midrange and bass drivers, which result in ideal stiffness and damping properties to minimize any acoustical contribution by reducing resonant modes while also maximizing air flow.

The newly designed S3 tweeter features a Magico 28mm diamond-coated beryllium diaphragm, while the 5-inch pure midrange driver in the S3 features an advanced cone material formed of a honeycomb aluminium core sandwiched with outer and inner layers of graphene and carbon fibre.

The 9-inch bass driver features an enhanced version of Magico’s Graphene Nano-Tec cone.
The S3 2023 edition also benefits from a newly engineered enclosure, assembled from four separate extruded aluminum panels ranging in thickness from 13mm to 50.8mm

The new 2023 edition of the Magico S3 will offer two levels of finish – M-Cast, which is a textured powder coat finish, and M-Coat, a high-gloss paint finish. M-Cast colour options include black, pewter, silver and bronze. M-Coat colour options include black, titanium, pearl white, orange, blue and candy red.

The M-Cast and M-Coat finish options are priced at £56,998 and £66,000 per pair respectively.
