The Lumin audiophile grade P1 Mini streamer/DAC/Preamp is now available in the UK, courtesy of specialist UK distributor Sound Design Distribution. The P1 Mini builds on the Lumin P1, including much of its audiophile design and user flexibility, but in a more compact chassis.
The P1 Mini is designed to be used as a streamer, a DAC, a pre-amplifier, or all three. Joining a stereo analogue input, digital inputs include USB (up to native DSD512), optical/SPDIF (up to 192/24 with DoP) and HDMI 2.0 (with 4K passthrough), while digital outputs include USB (with native DSD512 support), BNC SPDIF (PCM 44.1kHz–192kHz, 16–24-bit DSD64), and HDMI, supporting PCM 2.0 Audio, 4K Video passthrough and ARC.
The P1 Mini also offers DSD128 and PCM 384kHz up-sampling options for all files, while a dual-network interface manages switching between the P1 Mini’s Ethernet and SFP fibre ports, providing complete isolation from network noise.
Utilising a new internal toroidal power supply and Leedh Processing lossless digital volume control, the P1 Mini’s analogue output stage is similar to that of the P1, involving a fully balanced layout featuring dual ES9028PRO SABRE DACs supported by dual Femto crystal oscillators and Lumin’s proprietary FPGA clock distribution system, which delivers optimum signal quality to XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced outputs.
Supported file formats include DSF (DSD), DFF (DSD), DoP (DSD), FLAC, Apple Lossless (ALAC), WAV, AIFF MQA, MP3, AAC, and streaming services include OpenHome, Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, FLAC Lossless Radio, TuneIn Radio, Apple AirPlay 2, Plex, Gapless Playback, On-Device Playlist and Multi-Room (Songcast).
Control over playback and settings, input selection, per-input volume memory and custom input labels is available from the Lumin app, or via a Roon-ready handheld remote control, made in Austria from acrylic and zinc. The new infrared receiver built into the LUMIN P1 Mini is compatible with universal remote controls, phones, and automation systems.
Available in natural or black anodised aluminium, the P1 Mini retails for £4,195.
