Lithe Audio has launched a wireless compact subwoofer. Just 17cm square, the new model can be used with any existing home audio system and has Chromecast built-in, with voice support for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, plus Spotify Connect.

While the so-called Micro Subwoofer is designed to work with Lithe's wireless multi-room ceiling speakers, we're told it’s also compatible with any Googlecast speaker. If you want to connect a wired data connection, there’s an Ethernet option.

The sub has one 4-inch active driver and two 4-inch passive radiators. The power output is rated at 70W into 4 Ohms. DSP bass management is available from the Lithe Audio app, which offers full control over the crossover frequency, phase, volume, gain, and high/low pass filters.

The sub has soft chamfered edges and should fit in most small spaces, including behind a sofa, or under furniture. Wi-Fi connectivity is dual band.

“We’re excited to be able to offer this unique wireless Micro Subwoofer that delivers a plug and play, faff-free way to bring richer, rounder sound to any wireless home audio system,” says Amit Ravat, co-founder of Lithe Audio.

“There’s no other wireless sub like this on the market. It works seamlessly with your mobile device, and in conjunction with our App, to deliver high quality bass via WiFi, Chromecast, OK Google, Alexa, Spotify.”

The Lithe Audio Micro Subwoofer sells for £400.
