Linn has announced new tonearm and cartridge upgrades for its Sondek LP12 turntable.

The Arko is the brand’s first entirely new, in-house tonearm since 2006. The company says it has ‘returned to fundamentals’ with Arko, by removing everything except mission-critical elements of the tonearm's design, and then honing what was left.

Owners of Majik, Akito, legacy Linn, and 3rd-party tonearms can audition the new arrival at their local Linn Sondek LP12 specialist.

Designed to partner the Arko, the Kendo is hailed as a high performance moving coil cartridge. The Kendo employs a super-fine-line diamond tip in a nickel-coated, 7075-grade aluminium shell. The brand suggests it features elements trickled down from the flagship Ekstatik.

It’s designed to serve as a performance upgrade to Adikt, Krystal, legacy Linn and 3rd-party cartridges.

In related news, the Krane static-balanced tonearm, which has been fitted as standard to all Majik LP12s since 2020, is now available as a standalone upgrade for the first time. Krane is positioned as an upgrade for decks featuring earlier Pro-Ject- and Jelco-made Majik tonearms.

Finally, there’s the Koil, an ‘entry-level’ premium MC cartridge that provides a step up in performance from Linn's Adikt moving magnet cartridge. It’s available either as an upgrade or fitted as standard to a new Majik LP12 MC.
