LG has shown the world’s largest 4k OLED TV, a 97-inch superscreen, alongside a 42-inch gaming OLED TV with adjustable curvature, at IFA 2022.
The 97-incher is the largest example of OLED.EX panel technology seen to date, and further extends the range of panel options from the brand.
The screen employs ‘deuterium technology’ and ‘personalised algorithms,’ to enhance brightness by up to 30 percent compared to conventional OLED displays. Bezel thickness has also been reduced by 30 percent compared to existing panels.
LG Display also demonstrated a 77-inch 8k OLED panel at the returning IFA tech show.
The LG Flex gaming display offers variable degrees of curvature, adjustable by remote control over 20 steps. A user can use the screen flat to watch TV, but curved for greater immersion when gaming. LG has shown curvable screens before, but now the concept is finding fresh traction thanks to the popularity of next-gen gaming systems.
There’s no news yet on a price for the LG Flex, although it’s expected to have a significant premium over the price of a regular 42-inch C2 OLED.
“LG Display plans to further strengthen OLED’s unparalleled leadership within the premium TV market through a variety of lineups that consistently provide peak image quality, cutting-edge innovation and differentiated customer experiences,” said Dr. Chang-ho Oh, Executive Vice President & Head of the Large Display Business Unit at LG Display.
