LG has begun shipping its first Mini LED QNED screens. The incoming line up consists of 8k QNED99 and QNED95 series models (pictured), and 4k QNED90 models. Screen sizes range from 65- to 86-inches.
Featuring Quantum Dot NanoCell colour technology, LG QNED Mini LED ‘ushers in a whole new era in LCD TV picture quality with rich and accurate colours for immersive viewing.’ says the brand. Certified by international product testing agency Intertek for providing 100 percent colour volume and colour consistency, LG QNED Mini LED TVs also claim to eliminate colour distortion when viewed off axis, making them particularly suitable for media rooms.
Park Hyoung-sei, president of the LG Home Entertainment Company, said: “LG QNED Mini LED TV represents an evolutionary leap forward.”
The adoption of Mini LED allows LG to offer both increased brightness and more dimming zones, for precise HDR management and high contrast with deeper blacks. The 86-inch 8k 86QNED99 is backlit by approximately 30,000 LED lights arranged to create approximately 2,500 local dimming zones. This also corresponds to 10x better contrast ratio than a conventional LCD TVs.
LG QNED Mini LED TVs have received Eco-Product certification from SGS Société Générale de Surveillance SA of Switzerland. This certification is awarded to products that fulfill SGS requirements to standards that include low environmental impact or recyclability.
